CURLY HAIR!

On my old blog, I did a post about about what it's like having curly hair and I was pretty proud of that post so because of that, I want to post it on this blog :)

So here are 15 things of what I have to deal with when it comes to my natural curly hair!

1) Can't brush curly hair: People with curly hair know that it is a struggle to brush curly hair. If I brush my hair, it goes really bushy and frizzy and it just isn't good for my hair. The only time I brush my hair is before I have a shower and the amount of times I have feared for my hairbrushes life is unreal. I even broke my comb one time.

2) Finding the right products: For me personally, I find it hard to find the right products for me hair. At the moment, the shampoo that I am using is apparently for 'frizzy hair'...it is making my hair even more frizzy than it already is (but it smells like blueberries so I don't want to stop using it). 'Frizz-Ease'?...more like 'Frizz-Please'

3) Sleeping on it: I always love my hair just after I have washed it. The curls are usually more defined and not so frizzy. Then when I wake up the next day, the frizz and the knots have arrived...my is basically just one big mess. It's quite upsetting.

4) 'Quick' showers: When you have curly hair, there is no such thing as a 'quick shower'. My family always tease me about how long I am in the shower for but I actually can't help it. I have a lot of hair so a quick shower for me is 15-20 minutes.

5) People like to touch curly hair like they have never seen it before: I always seem to have people touching my hair. It's like they've grew up in a world surrounded by straight hair and then BOOM I appear with my curly hair and it's like a miracle has happened. The only way I can describe it is when you are sitting in lesson at school and all of a sudden it starts to snow and everyone is fascinated by the white stuff outside as if they have never seen it before.

6) Hands get stuck: When people do touch my hair, their hand always gets awkwardly stuck and they are just standing there trying to get it out. I've also managed to get my own hands stuck in my hair on a numerous occasions.

7) "Is your hair naturally curly?": I get this question a lot. I would be rich if I got a pound every time someone has asked me this question. Everyone seems to look so amazed when I answer with 'yes'.

8) "How long does it take to straighten?": This is another question that I get a lot. People then get shocked when I tell them 'Oh, just about half an hour' as they seem to think it takes days...weeks...months even. I have curly hair, not the Amazon rainforest.

9) "You are so lucky to have curly hair" "I wish I had hair like yours": I also get these said a lot. I think it's lovely when people say this but if they could actually see what's its like to deal with curly hair then they would probably take back what they said. So much time and effort goes into having hair like this and life would be so much easier for me if I did have straight hair.

10) Straightening curly hair: Like I said before, my hair doesn't take long to straighten. But it does take a lot of effort. I have to section my hair and because of this, my hair is in my face so I can't see what's going on. I have to keep straightening one piece of hair until its straight. The thickness of my hair and the heat of the straighteners really don't mix. I try and not straighten my hair too much but I like having straight hair so I am constantly debating with myself. Life problems.

11) People commenting on your straight hair but you still get offended: Whenever I've got my hair straight, people do complement me but for some strange reason, I start to get offended. Person: "Your hair looks so nice straight" Me: "Thank you" My brain: "Oh, so I don't look good with curly hair?..are my curls not good enough?"

12) Gets in everyone's faces: As well as it getting into my face all the time, it also gets into everyone else's. If I'm hugging someone, they always seem to make a comment about it getting in their face or that it's in the mouth and eyes. I wouldn't be surprised if my friends have had hairballs after hugging me.

13) Rain: Need I say more? As soon as my hair comes into contact with rain BOOM the frizz has arrived.

14) Getting things in it: I have lost count of the times I have had food in my hair. Sometimes I don't even know how it's got into my hair.

15) You can do a lot with curly hair (apparently): People always say to me that I could do so much with my hair...yet I still keep it down and curly. I don't like taking the risk of doing something with my hair then by the end of the day, it just looks a mess. Plus it might not seem like it after reading this post but I do really love my hair and I prefer it not to be styled.

So these are the things I have to deal with when it comes to having curly hair! If anybody reading this has curly hair and have any other problems or good things with having curly hair, please let me know because I probably have to deal with the same thing haha ;)

Here are some photo's of myself (I promise I am not vain) with my natural hair recently :) x

That one time I styled my hair...sort of...

2015 ALBUM FAVOURITES!

Something that I did on my old blog was talk about the music I had been loving at the time. So I thought being as we are now in 2016. I could do a post about the albums I had been loving (and still loving) in 2015.

James Bay - Chaos And The Calm

James Bay is one artist I have been loving since I first found out about him at the end of 2014. His voice is so perfect and chilled and I just love him. I would have to say that my favourite songs on this album are Move Together, Scars, Running, Best Fake Smile and If You Ever Want To Be In Love. I think this is a perfect album if you just want to chill out with a hot drink or a cheeky alcoholic drink (if you are legal to of course).

Fall Out Boy - American Beauty/American Psycho
Fall Out Boy are one of my favourite bands so obviously I am going to include them in this ;) What I like about this album is that it is different from their other albums. Obviously I do miss their old style but I would be lying if I said I didn't love their new style as well. I would say what my favourite songs of this album are but I would end up listing pretty much the whole album ;)

The Weeknd - Beauty Behind The Madness
I have been a fan of The Weeknd pretty much since Crew Love was released and he has never let me down with any of his music. This album came out the same day as Halsey's (I will talk about Badlands ;)) so I had two albums that I was excited to listen to! Dark Times is one of my favourites and the fact that Ed Sheeran is on that song makes it even better. Tell Your Friends, Often, Losers, The Hills, Acquainted...I am literally about to start listing all of the songs on the album because I am just in love with pretty much every song.

All Time Low - Future Hearts
Can I just start off by saying that All Time Low are such a good band *cries*...anyway...this album is brilliant. I love it!! Pretty much all of the songs on this album are amazing and I am in love with them all. Tidal Waves was the song I fell in love with straight away and also Bail Me Out. At the moment, I am still obsessed with Satellite!

Jess Glynne - I Cry When I Laugh
Honestly, this album was something I decided to randomly listen to when it came out and I wasn't expecting to love it as much I did. She has got such an incredible voice and she really proves it on this album. I fell in love with Take Me Home the second I listened to it as the lyrics are beautiful and moving. I was expecting the album to be filled with upbeat songs like Hold My Hand and Right Here but it was so nice to know that she can also do songs like Take Me Home and Saddest Vanilla.

Halsey - Badlands
This album has been out since August and it still gives me life!! I started to become a big fan of Halsey from the start of 2015 and I have been loving her ever since. This album is amazing (and I'm not just saying that because I love her). There are so many good songs on this album that you can just chill and listen to. Plus, I am in love with the majority of the lyrics. Colors has been my favourite song since I first heard it and I'm still not bored of it yet.

Bring Me The Horizon - That's The Spirit
I'll be honest, before this album, I had never really listened to BMTH as I never really gave them the chance. The only songs I had really listened to were Drown, Can You Feel My Heart and Shadow Moses. When this album came out, I decided to listen to it on Spotify as I wanted some new music to listen to. I loved Drown when I first head it so I expected this album to be decent...and it was. It shocked me how much I actually loved this album. Happy Song is definitely one of my favourite songs off the album.

The Vamps - Wake Up
The Vamps are another one of my favourite bands and I have seen them pretty much grow as a band before even Connor joined. I remember in 2013 when I went to see them at a free gig when they weren't really known and we were in the 3rd row. My throat is still messed up from that gig I swear! But anyway, obviously I am going to say this album is amazing (which it is ;)). I am loving Boy Without A Car, Half Way There, Coming Home, Be With You and Stolen Moments.

Twenty One Pilots - Blurryface
Twenty One Pilots have always been a band that I have known about but never actually listened to their music...until about August/September time...and I am annoyed at myself for not listening to them sooner. What I love about them is that they don't really have a set genre and I actually really like that. Heavydirtysoul, Goner, Doubt, Tear In My Heart, Polarize and Stressed Out are probably my favourites off this album.

Justin Bieber - Purpose
Justin Bieber has always been a bit of guilty pleasure of mine as I never really liked him but I did really like a lot of his music. 2015 was a very good year for the Biebs and I would like to think he has won everyone over (because he has won me over). I was pretty excited to listen to this album after hearing the songs he had already released and also because of the song he did with Halsey. When I listened to the album, I listened to The Feeling straight away and fell in love it. I am not just saying it because I love Halsey but that is my favourite song off the album ;) But this album is really decent and I can't help but applaud Justin!!

One Direction - Made In The A.M.
Obviously I had to add this into this post ;) When Zayn left, I was abit worried about how their new music was going to turn out being as Zayn's vocals are incredible and play a big part in One Direction songs. But this album has proved that Zayn's vocals aren't really needed (I tried not to say that in a mean way). This album is just perfect (no pun intended ;)) and I love it!! I am actually struggling to pick my favourite songs because I will end up listing the whole album. The only problem I have with this album is that a chill song will play (Long Way Down) so you start to feel chilled and relax.... then boom, you end up crapping yourself because a karate type of noise is the next thing you hear (Never Enough is a really good song though)...that's the only problem I have with the album though ;)

The Maine - American Candy
Like with Twenty One Pilots, I only really started listening to The Maine around about the same time...and as well, I am annoyed that I didn't start listening to them sooner. They are such a good band!! This album is such a chill out album, I love it. I am loving pretty much every song on this album. I think English Girls, Another Night On Mars and My Hair are my favourites though!

5 Seconds of Summer - Sounds Good Feels Good
So yeah this album is good....

....IT'S BLOODY AMAZING!! If you know me then you will know that I am a big 5SOS fan ;) The build up to this album was so tense and I was just so excited because new 5SOS music is what I live for. This album is honestly perfect and also beautifully written. Some of the songs on this album mean a lot to me and this album in general has got me through these past few shitty months. Songs like Invisible, Broken Home and The Girl Who Cried Wolf are songs that could make you cry (I was a right mess when I listened to them) but you also have songs like Money, Waste The Night and Catch Fire that make you just want to jump around and dance. I would list my favourite songs but I just love them all...I still can't get over how incredible this album is! I am gutted that I won't be seeing them live this year as I would love to see a lot of these songs being performed live and also because they are my favourite band :(

Has anybody else been loving any of these albums? or any other album? :) x

URBAN DECAY NAKED SMOKY PALETTE!

About 4-5 years ago, if someone mentioned make up to me, I would probably look at them as if to say 'wtf'. I didn't start wearing make up until I started college and even then it was only the basics (foundation, concealer and mascara). It wasn't until I started my old blog that I started to fall in love with make up. I used to read people's blog posts or watch youtube videos and be amazed by make up and how people applied it.

One thing I used to see people rave about was the 'Urban Decay Naked' palettes. There I was in 2014, dreaming about owning one of these palettes and having the perfect eye make up. Obviously when I first saw the price of these palettes, I knew straight away that I wouldn't be owning one any time soon.

2015 came and with my birthday money, I decided that it was time to own a naked palette. So there I was, the day after my birthday, in Debenhams with my mom (my dad had wondered off somewhere) looking at the palettes and deciding which one I wanted to get. I decided on the Naked 2 palette as I preferred the colours in that palette. My mom didn't realise the price of the palette until the woman at the till asked for the money...I thought she was going to kill me right there and then.

I fell in love with the palette straight away and I had decided the second I bought it that it was my favourite beauty product. Eye shadow is something I've never really had confidence with and I'm still learning now how to apply it.

When the Naked Smoky palette came out, I knew straight away that I wanted it but obviously I didn't have the money to buy it. Luckily for me, I received a bit of money for Christmas so my first thought was "I'm going to buy the naked smoky palette". I looked on Feel Unique and noticed that it was on sale. So I managed to get it 10% cheaper than the original price.

When the palette arrived, once again my mom judged me for spending so much on eye shadow. But that's the thing. It's not just 'eye shadow'...it's like a child (well not quite but I still look after the palette with love and care).

Since getting the palette, I have only done my make up nearly everyday just so I could use the palette. With the palette, you get a guide with it which shows you 4 looks you can create with the palette. As I'm writing this, I have completely ignored the guide and decided to try my own look.

I started off with the colour 'combust' over the lid and brow bone and then used 'thirteen' to highlight. In the crease, I used the colour 'dagger' and blended it in well before using 'slanted' over the lid. To add more shimmer, I added 'armor' on top of 'slanted' and I find that 'armor' is more pigmented than 'slanted'. In the inner corner of my eyes, I used 'high' which I really like to use for the inner corners. To make the crease a little bit darker, I used ' black market' and blended that into 'dagger'. This is quite a simple look and it's not too dark or over the top.

Just like my Naked 2 palette, the colours apply really well and you can create so many different looks. Out of all of the Naked palettes (well I've only tried 2 so my opinion probably isn't a fair one haha) I would recommend this one. Especially if you are into the whole 'smoky' look. Once again, Urban Decay haven't failed to amaze me with how amazing the Naked palettes are. I know they are pretty pricey but they are definitely worth it. Plus you get a decent brush included with it which just makes it even more worth the money.

Has anyone else tried this palette out? :) x

WELCOME!

WELCOME, YOU BEAUTIFUL READERS!!!

I just wanted to do a short post to welcome you all and to sort of introduce myself :)

My name is Jodie, I am 19 years old and I am from the UK. I have been blogging for the past couple of years on a different blog but I wanted to start a new one so I could start fresh :)

This blog will probably be pretty much similar to my other blog. It will include some beauty posts, some music posts, some lifestyle posts, some personal posts, some favourites posts....and probably some other type of posts that I can't currently think of ;) (I swear that I am an organised person)

I will also be posting things that, I would like to think, might help some of you :) Especially on mental health as my anxiety has pretty much taken over my life so I would like to be open about it on my blog.

Me^^^^^^

Hopefully I will be more consistent with this blog unlike my other one (bare with me...I can do it).

I also want to warn you all that I am a little bit of a fangirl (little bit? okay, I fangirl a lot) so just keep that in mind ;) I will try not to be annoying about it...but I am not making promises because I do live the fangirl life (adds smiling face with sunglasses emoji) (Also, I did not just search what that emoji was called...okay I did).

Anyway, once again...welcome to my blog and hopefully you enjoy reading it :) Don't be afraid to leave comments...even if you just want to say hi...I promise you that I am friendly (I would say *adds smirk emoji* but I think that's a little bit creepy...so have a smiley face instead) :) x

NEW YEAR, NEW BLOG!

I would start this off by saying something like 'I thought I would give blogging a try' but I have actually been blogging for the past couple of years...so obviously I can't really say that.  My blog was pretty much filled with random things like beauty, music favourites, monthly favourites, reviews, personal things, etc. But I have been thinking a lot recently about that blog. I wasn't blogging consistently and I just couldn't find the motivation to blog anything. I had also kept that blog pretty much a secret from people I personally know. I even had a separate Twitter, Instagram and Tumblr for it.

When I first started the blog, I wasn't expecting big things and I just wanted to have it as a hobby. I don't have many readers on that blog but that didn't bother me as I enjoyed blogging.

During 2014, I was really into blogging and I would be posting nearly every week. Towards the end of 2014, I was diagnosed with anxiety and finding motivation to blog was something I found really difficult. The passion I had for blogging just disappeared. During 2015, I struggled when it came to blogging because I just never knew what to post about and I lost confidence with it.

Now it's 2016 and I have come to the decision that I would love to get back into blogging again (well I've been thinking about it these past couple of months). 2016 is the year that I really want to start sorting my life out and I want to become a better person. That's why I have decided to create this new blog instead of using my old one. My old blog is like my baby and I will miss it a lot but I wanted to start fresh :) I'm also pretty nervous about this because I will be posting this on my personal twitter instead of hiding away my blog like I did with my old one. I don't want to feel scared about sharing this blog...especially with people that I personally know. I want to feel confident about it and I want to push myself out of my comfort zone.

So to end this post, I would like to say welcome to my blog and I hope you like it :) x
